Ecoute App Reviews

Indispensably good

Long time user of Ecoute, and Ive always thought of it as so good it is essential. The recent changes with viewing song lyrics is kind of absurd, but no fault lie with Ecoute.

Best replacement for music

This is a great music app. Beautiful, simple and fun to use.

Beautiful and Functional

I only with it could create playlists, and maybe interface/import from other sources such as cloud storage, Google Play, etc.

Over complicated

I was looking for an app that would be easier and more intuitive to use than the default one, and was recommended this one. Its not. All I wanted to do was to be able to create playlists on the go (select one song from any album, then go to another one and add it to the current playlist, like we can do on any pc with windows media player or vlc, or like we could do on iPhone with Music+, no longer available). To do so with this app requires lots of patience. 50% of the time, when you try adding a second song, itll just start playing it and delete your previous list (yes, you have to do it all over again). Sometimes, even though you can see your playlist, itll just stop playing after the first song and delete the playlist (such fun after spent in five minutes creating it). Navigating through the menus is horrible and unintuitive, and more often than not it takes forever to get the result we want (oh, and never ever touch the "random" button after selecting the first song you want to listen to, itll stop playing it and will start another one for you). The only thing thats "easier" on this app than on the apple one is to listen to just one album from an artist of whom you have several. Other than that, it achieved to be worse than the stock one (which impressively manages to get worse with every new update). Im now back to looking for a decent music app that does simple thing, but maybe its too much to ask?

Great replacement for the built in music app

This is not a minimalist music app, but at least it it focused on my music and not all the streaming and artist connect info the iOS 9 music app is weighed down with. This looks great and works great.

Great app...

This app is very easy to use and is not cluttered like native iOS music app. Its simplicity has won me over and I have no reason to return to the other one. There a few bugs here and there such as the app becoming unresponsive at times or taking long to load on my 6s plus. Theyre under new ownership and Im not sure how that bodes for support of this app. It would be a bummer for it to not be properly supported or for new features and improvements to go away. This truly is an awesome app. If you want a non-complicated way of listening to your tunes pick this. Lets hope the developers will keep up the good work.

Please fix REPEAT ONE -- STILL NOT FIXED

Anytime I use repeat one then pick a new album, it only lets me play the first song in the album instead of the one I want. Also, very hard to pick songs on my 6+ now. Seems like adding 3D touch broke stuff. Thanks.

Great iOS 9 Music App Alternative

Works SO well. Seriously. Real simple. Doesnt have tons of unnecessary features. You can access the app settings by going to the iPhone Settings app and scrolling down to Ecoute. This app is MUCH-MUCH better than the iOS 9 default Music app. Highly recommend. Happy to see updates for iOS 9 and 3D Touch! Thanks!

A breath of fresh air

Apple continues to make its music app worse and worse, but thankfully we have this alternative. Its got a nice, simple UI and works with the default music app EQ settings. Easily worth the price.

My favorite music app...

This app is beautiful, and orders of magnitude better than the stock app! Its been my favorite since it was released a couple years ago.

Not fully integrated with iTunes database

iTunes allows assigning a picture (cover art or whatever) to a playlist, instead of reading the cover art from the ID3 tags, and the picture will display in the stock music app. Not in Ecoute, however. And the playlist view, aside from being buried under "Filters," has no options for changing the view.

Awesome, inexpensive and better than the default

Really easy to use. I had an easy time transitioning from the default music app. Allows you to shuffle by album which is something I really missed from my old iPod. Last.fm integration so you can scrobble in realtime, a button that allows you to search for lyrics in-app. Beautiful interface. Best 99¢ Ive spent in some time.

Plays my music — just what I want!

If you want to play music you own this is the app for you. It doesn’t do streaming, it doesn’t have a built in social network, you can’t buy music here. It just plays the music you own, and that it does VERY WELL. Genres, playlists, albums, artists — whatever you have synced to your device it will let you play it without constantly prompting you for your apple id, without worrying about your data limits, or anything else. Yes, it restores the 2010 functionality of the stock music app — that’s just what I wanted.

Not as advertised

Disappointed cant even find how to search a song

Its a godsend!

After pulling my hair out with the stupendously stupid design of the Apple Music app, I downloaded Ecoute and was listening to my music mere seconds later!!! Its a compact, fast and intuitive app that works really well on my iPhone 6 Plus.

Better than Apple

Way better than Apples sorry excuse for a music app. There are a few things that need fixed in my opinion. First, when killing the app, it continues to play. The other thing is the artwork needs to be bigger and get rid of the stupid color blending. When the artwork is white, the app goes all white, and it looks terrible!

Good Simple Music Player

OMG, iTunes is now so bloated with crap, all I want to do is look through my albums and play them. Still use iTunes on the Mac for importing and syncing, but looking for an alternative there, too.

Minimalistic. Perfect.

With Apple first discontinuing the iPod classic and then totally screwing up its native music app, people with MP3 album collections were starting to get pushed away. This is the answer. Minimalistic and simple, you can browse by genre-->artist-->album-->song, just like youre meant to. No ads, suggestions, interruptions, or distractions. Just you and your music. Thank you for this! Worth more than just $1.

Perfect replacement of the music app

Since iOS 7, the native music app has left something to be desired. Lets face it, the only reason youre here is because you dont like it either. Ecoute is the perfect replacement with a cleaner interface and less clutter. Also features "night mode" that automatically adjusts to your surroundings (if you dont like that you can simply disable it). EQ settings also apply to music played through Ecoute as well as "play counts" if you still use iTunes like I do. The default display mode for scrolling is "grid view", but that can easily be changed to "list view". 99 cents is a very small price to pay for such good upgrade to your music player.

Excellent player!

I liked the old Apple Music player. I upgraded to IOS 9.2 from 8.x and it installed a garish and difficult to navigate mess. This is a elegant replacement. Worth WAY more than what I paid to be able to find and control my music easily. Thank you developer(s). I love you.
